Support us: how we are governed and how your support is used

Our status. Waymaker Trust is not currently registered as a charity or other formal entity. Current circumstances in Myanmar mean we are unable to register there.

Waymaker Trust UK is preparing to apply to become an independent UK charity that will make grants to support the work of Waymaker Trust in Chin State. It will not manage our programmes or oversee our day-to-day operations.

How donations work today. Donations are currently collected through a JustGiving fundraising page set up by Hannah, a British volunteer, and paid into dedicated bank accounts that are used only for Waymaker Trust’s work. Hannah and our founder and CEO check the finances together regularly. We review income and spending regularly, keep receipts, and track restricted and project funding so that gifts are used for the purpose they were given. Donations are used to fund our programmes, and very little is used for overhead expenses. Donations are not eligible for Gift Aid or tax relief. When Waymaker Trust UK is registered, we will update this page.

Protecting people. Our Safeguarding Policy governs how we work with and protect children, women and communities, including how we protect the safety of people and partners in Myanmar.
